VBS 2018

ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL

“The Epistle of James”

From fixing cars to wallpapering a bedroom, "how-to" books explain how things are done. The Epistle of James is known as the how-to book for the Christian life. We are embarking on a twelve-week, in-depth study (beginning September 9th) of this instructive letter that will include such topics as trials, doers-not-hearers-only, faith and works, controlling the tongue, etc. Our study will not utilize videos or any books other than the Bible. Teaching will be shared and rotated between Sally Hager, Mike Ferguson, and Richard Benney. Join us Sunday mornings at 9 AM!

Young Adult Class

Our young adult group is studying the Gospel According to Mark. This is an ongoing, in-depth study of scripture. Each Sunday morning, we meet in in the Ethel Goerig room at 9:00 AM to read, discuss, laugh, and apply the scripture to our lives. Joins us at any point as we journey through the entire Book of Mark; each lesson stands on its own.

Monthly Prayer Time

Our special prayer times will continue, with two opportunities for group prayer.  We will meet at 11:15 a.m., on the first Tuesday of each month and at 11:45 a.m. on the last Sunday of each month.  Please join us as we pray for the world, our nation, and personal concerns.

Read Through the New Testament

Pastor Kevin will be preaching through the New Testament in 2018. Below is a resource to help you read through the New Testament daily and engage with God. Click this link for your Bible Reading Plan

Tuesday Morning Bible Study-New Chapter Study Beginning December 2018!

We meet every Tuesday from 10:00 am until 11:30 am in the room adjoining the pastor's study.  We are  beginning the study of the Gospel of Matthew in December. Our attendance averages 6-10.  We usually cover two chapters each week. Our procedure is to read the Bible text, consulting footnotes in our Bibles for clarification, and have lively discussions of how the message applies to everyday situations we encounter. We end with a brief time of prayers of gratitude and for needs requested by those present. The Bible is our sole textbook and there is no homework for this class. We study and learn together. Come join us at any time, whether you are a Bible scholar or new Christian. You will be warmly welcomed by the group.

Sermon Based Discussions

We excited to introduce a new idea for deepening our relationship with God and deepening our relationship with friends from Woodland Presbyterian Church.  The weekly church bulletin will contain discussion questions based on sermon.  We encourage you to use these discussion questions in one of several ways.

= You can use them to stimulate your own understanding of how to apply the ideas from the sermon in your own life.
= You can use them as a starting point for a conversation within your own family.
= You can use them as the focus of a regular small group discussion with several friends from the church.

Remember, sermons are available online or you may request a copy on CD.

Shipwrecked VBS Update

This year we had 30 children attend our Shipwrecked VBS throughout the week. As castaways on the island, we learned that Jesus rescues us when we are lonely, when we worry, when we struggle, when we do wrong, and when we are powerless. Each day, the children explored the island and the different stations. I want to thank all of the people who volunteered throughout the week. We had about 25 volunteers, and we all had a good time. As a mission project, the children brought in loose change and donations to fill their seed packets for the children in Haiti. We collected $500 which will feed 50 families, which is wonderful. Thank you to all who donated to this worthy cause.    ~ In His Service, Cindy Leach, VBS Director
