Church Family,
Hoping to start sometime in January, the Adult Sunday School will start a new series based on Gregory Koukl’s bestselling book, Tactics, A Game Plan for Discussing Your Christian Convictions.
As always, teaching is shared and rotated between Sally Hager, Mike Ferguson, and Richard Benney. When it starts, the class will be in the Fellowship Hall on Sunday mornings at 9 a.m., or you can read the book along with a friend. We will supply books to anyone who is interested, please let us know.

ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL

The Adult Sunday School is currently in a 5-week class based on the DVD series Faith Under Fire: Exploring Christianity’s 10 Toughest Questions. Beginning November 15 we will begin a new series based on Gregory Koukl’s bestselling book, Tactics, A Game Plan for Discussing Your Christian Convictions.

In a world increasingly indifferent to Christian truth, as followers of Christ, we need to be equipped to communicate with those who do not speak our language or accept our source of authority.  In Tactics, A Game Plan for Discussing Your Christian Convictions, Gregory Koukl demonstrates how to artfully get in the driver’s seat in discussions about faith, keeping any conversation moving with thoughtful, artful tact. We will learn how to maneuver comfortably and graciously through the minefields, stop challengers in their tracks, turn the tables and—most importantly—get unbelievers thinking about Jesus.  Tactics provides the game plan for communicating the compelling truth about Christianity with confidence and grace.

Drawing on extensive experience defending Christianity in the public square, Koukl will show us how to:

  • Initiate conversations effortlessly
  • Present the truth clearly, cleverly, and persuasively
  • Graciously and effectively expose faulty thinking
  • Skillfully manage the details of dialogue
  • Maintain an engaging, disarming style even under attack

As always, teaching is shared and rotated between Sally Hager, Mike Ferguson, and Richard Benney. Please join us in the Fellowship Hall on Sunday mornings at 9:00 a.m., or read the book along with a friend. We will supply books to anyone who is interested, but please let us know before the 1st of November so we will know how many books are needed.

Note that due to social distancing requirements, we need a larger room, so this class will now be held downstairs in the Fellowship Hall. There are 20 chairs set up with appropriate separation, and there is a TV already in the room to play the DVDS. Please click this link to sign-up to join by Zoom if you prefer to attend remotely.

The second adult class on Mere Christianity is meeting in the Koinonia Chapel in order to accommodate social distancing. It will not be livestreamed at this time.

Monthly Prayer Time

Our special prayer times will continue, with two opportunities for group prayer.  We will meet at 11:15 a.m., on the first Tuesday of each month and at 11:45 a.m. on the last Sunday of each month.  Please join us as we pray for the world, our nation, and personal concerns.

Bible Reading Program

Join the congreation as we read through the Bible in 2021. Below is a resource to help you read through the Bible daily and engage with God. Click this link for your Bible Reading Program.

Also available, 3 year Bible reading plan.

Tuesday Morning Bible Chapter Study - in person and Zoom

We meet every Tuesday from 10:00 am until 11:30 am in the room adjoining the pastor's study.  In June, we are studying of the Gospel of James. Our attendance averages 6-10.  We usually cover two chapters each week. Our procedure is to read the Bible text, consulting footnotes in our Bibles for clarification, and have lively discussions of how the message applies to everyday situations we encounter. We end with a brief time of prayers of gratitude and for needs requested by those present. The Bible is our sole textbook and there is no homework for this class. We study and learn together. Come join us at any time, whether you are a Bible scholar or new Christian. You will be warmly welcomed by the group.

Prayer Journaling- temporarily postponed
Those intereted in prayer journaling will be gathering weekly in the Ethel Goerig Room (conference room) on Thursday mornings at 9:30 AM. This will be a time for sharing ideas, discussing the "how to's," and exploring creative ways to help you grow in your quiet time and personal relationship with God through journaling. All are welcome! First-time participants will receive a free journal along with some handouts to help you get started.

If you are interested in prayer journaling during the Friday Night Prayer Service, contact Sherry Bozorth.
